The company, now a nonprofit organization, works to promote science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) literacy and diversity in STEM. In 2001, Ride founded Sally Ride Science alongside O'Shaughnessy and a small group of their colleagues. Today, the impact of Ride's work extends far beyond her time in space.
